MY PENCIL JOURNEY

Life has a funny way of steering us in new directions, doesn’t it? Recently, I found myself at a crossroads after losing my latest job. With plenty of working years behind me and a whole lot of time on my hands, I decided it was the perfect moment to pause and really think about what I wanted to do next.

Creativity has always been at the heart of who I am. Over the years, I’ve dabbled in painting, digital art, character design, model-making, and even animation. Each of these creative pursuits has brought me joy, but when I sat down to truly reflect on what excites me the most, I kept coming back to something simple yet powerful: a blank piece of paper and a pencil. (Or, in my case, more pencils than an overstocked art shop!)

There’s something magical about drawing. And here’s a little secret—everyone can do it! Whether it’s a quick doodle, a scribble, a rough sketch, or a detailed masterpiece, all it takes is time, patience, and practice. With that thought in mind, I’ve decided to fully embrace my love for graphite pencil art and embark on a new era for BG&ZEE. There’s something fascinating about working in black and white—how light and shadow create depth, texture, and emotion without the distraction of color.

As for what I’ll be drawing, that’s easy. Nature has always been my greatest inspiration. When I’m out walking my dog, soaking in the peace and quiet, I find endless beauty in the trees, the creatures that call them home, and all the furry, feathered, and fascinating beings that roam our world.
